News from Felbrigg

BREAKING FUNDRAISING NEWS!!!! YOU DID IT.

You helped us raise the £200 for the road sign and more.

A huge thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who dug deep in their pockets at our re-opening event. Our new card machine really helped there.
We can hopefully afford a road sign and a sign for the building too.
Hooray!

📣 Can you help 📣

Felbrigg Parish Council are looking for 8 residents to help with the Community Speed Watch. Full training will be given by Norfolk Police.

Only 3 people go out at a time, so if you volunteer the job shouldn’t be too onerous.

If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about volunteering for the Felbrigg Community Speed Watch, please comment below or email our Parish Clerk, Julie Chance at: felbriggpc@gmail.com

This will be a great benefit to our community and be greatly appreciated. We need to keep working to monitor and slow down the traffic through our village.

Experience the magic of plant music in a unique setting with a series of late openings this summer.

If you love music, plants and flowers, this event is for you! Click here to read more about the event on the National Trust website.

BOOKING NOT NEEDED

We have a few spaces left on the workshop below. We would love to be able to hold another of Nicola’s super wreath making sessions. Please share with friends and call one of the numbers on the poster below to book.

The people who attended last month were amazed at what they went home with! Nicola will guide you through all the process and help you when and if needed.

Felbrigg Village Green – Pedestrian and Road Safety. Have you received your questionnaire?

The environment around the Village Hall requires urgent attention to ensure the safety of villagers and visitors. The B1436 is now a designated route for HGVs and experiences heavy traffic daily, posing a significant risk to the community. More details in the attached article.

The Village Hall committee has distributed a questionnaire to residences directly impacted by the traffic on the B1436 blind bend around The Green. Your input and support for this project are crucial. Please take a few minutes to respond to the questionnaire and return it to Tracy at number 15 or Carol at number 16 The Green as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can submit a scanned copy by email to contact@felbriggvillagehall.co.uk, or inform us if you prefer it to be collected.

If you live outside this area in Felbrigg or surrounding villages and wish to share your views, please do so by commenting below or by using the ‘Contact Us’ form on our website, and we will swiftly provide you with a questionnaire.

CAR PARKING AROUND FELBRIGG VILLAGE GREEN

Please note that parking on the lane around Felbrigg Village Green is not permitted. The lane is technically an unadopted road and therefore is not maintained by the local council. The upkeep of the lane is solely through the efforts of the local residents and is exclusively for their use.
Unauthorised parking causes erosion to the grass verges and degrades the hard surface, creating potholes and water run off damage, with the cost of repairs falling to the residents, not the local council.
Unauthorised parking causes delay and obstruction not only to residents who live on The Green and Catton’s Drift but to delivery and service vehicles. More importantly it also impedes the passing of emergency vehicles, potentially causing severe delay in attending incidents. We would therefore ask you to consider alternative parking in future so that you can still enjoy your visit to Felbrigg Village and the Estate.
Thank You for your co-operation.

On Thursday 2 May 2024 an election will be held to elect the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Norfolk. You can vote in the PCC elections in your local polling station, via Postal Vote or via Proxy Vote.

What is the Police and Crime Commissioner?

You can now apply for a Postal Vote online via the gov.uk portal or via a paper application form, which can be requested by emailing electoralservices@north-norfolk.gov.uk or calling 01263 513811. Similarly, you can designate somebody to vote at your local polling station on your behalf as your Proxy Voter, or Postal Vote on your behalf as a Proxy Postal Vote. MARCH 9TH 2024 MOTHERS DAY COFFEE MORNING
A great time was had by all! We were very lucky with the weather for our first coffee morning of the year, it was beautiful sunshine which made the air feel quite warm. Lots of Felbrigg residents, a few from Metton and some from the surrounding community attended, which was so lovely to see. The hall was decorated with lots of flowers and pretty tablecloths, the cake table laden with homemade fare and the kitchen buzzing as hot drinks were made and delivered to the tables.

We were charging just £2 for cake and a drink today with free top ups of both which went down really well, some thought they hadn’t paid enough so gave extra donations as well 😍.
Today’s raffle was geared to Mother’s Day with some pretty prizes especially for the ladies. Bunches of flowers, potted primroses, little glass vases and an unusual bottle shaped pottery money box with lovely sentiment wording were amongst the prizes. With Farmer Grahams star prize of a Lambing Day experience at Felbrigg Hall Farm for 2 adults and 2 children the raffle was really popular. Posies of flowers made by the committee were given to all the ladies and included some beautiful red and white camellia, pink alstroemeria, gerbera and verbena along with carnations, chrysanthemums, tulips and greenery.

Bringing the community together is the our aim of all the events we are looking to put on at the village hall this year, our lives are so busy now we all need to have a little down time where we can forget about our worries for a short while, or share them with those around us. There was a super atmosphere today, with everyone chatting and swapping tables to see friends and neighbours and have a catch up. Just what we had hoped for. Thank you to everyone who came along and made the morning go so well.

A guest left this comment on our Facebook page: Visited this event today. What a lovely atmosphere. A big thank you to all of you that worked so hard to make this a Mother’s Day special and it certainly turned out to be that. Johnnie & Jan.

We took an amazing £110 which will go towards future events PLUS we received an incredible donation of a brand spanking new, big hot water boiler for the kitchen 🤩. That will really help the flow of making hot drinks and be much better than our slow boiling kettle!!! We really were astounded by the kindness of the couple who presented this to the Chair during the afternoon following the event. The Village Hall committee are ever thankful and appreciate such generosity.

Our Community Cafe starts on April 6th and then every first Saturday in the month. We will bring different events and incorporate the coffee mornings, so keep your eyes peeled for details of the first one over on our Facebook page and here on the events page.

2023 CHRISTMAS GROTTY GROTTO REPORT
Visitors piled into the village hall, through a curtain of shiny silver ribbons surrounded by a balloon arch into Santas lounge. His piano was sitting up the corner ready to be played but we think he had had too much sherry and stayed fast asleep, in his armchair beside the fire, throughout the whole event. Nobody could wake him. Presents were stacked beneath the well-lit Christmas tree and disco lights flashed around the festively decorated room. In the were the village hall committee dressed as elves, in their green and red suits they welcomed visitors with a smile. Hot drinks, soup and food was being served from the kitchen. Other elves were rapidly filling the empty boxes from the advent tree with a constant flow of raffle tickets to keep the queues flowing.

A huge thank you to all the local business and people who so very kindly donated some absolutely fantastic prizes for our adult and children’s advent tombola’s. To all who came along on the day thank you. For those (and I think it was the majority) who had fun with our guessing games and advent tombola, you were all so keen to open the little boxes from the Christmas Tree to see if you’d won one of over 100 prizes. It was fabulous to see adults more excited than the children, collecting the boxes from the tree and then sitting at the tables to open them 😆 You all really made our day which whizzed past in a flash. £ xxxxxxxxx was raised from the day which will go towards putting on future events.
If you came along to our Grotty Grotto, did you enjoy yourself or win a prize? Leave us a comment below. Thank you, we really must do it again next year, will you be coming?
P.S can you keep a secret? … The elves have said they are bringing a real live Santa next time!!!

Here are a some pictures from the day, we even got a mention in the North Norfolk News!
